If you need evidence, look at how crooked the proposed "Cap and Trade" regulations are. Look at who is proposing the legislation, and then at who stands to lose, and who stands to profit from it.

Edit: It goes deeper than that, but it's not really suitable material, in my opinion, for an automotive board.
Completely agree... some of the ideas are well intentioned and good... it is when they use 100+ pages to say "reduce average automotive gasoline emissions on new cars to x" that things get screwed royally .

I have no problem reducing pollution as long as the numbers are economically feasible and reasonable in the given time frame... it is the way they write things that make it so complicated and each legislator gets to add his/her own emotional/paid bias and project to it...

I am rambling now... sorry about the political crap... did I just hijack and OT the OT post....

Do I get an e-cookie? that is quite a feat....

Regulations are there to control buisness and allow those who can afford it to bypass the laws.

heard of carbon credits?

Yeah, you can sell them to others also.

The Green Energy movement is the biggest hoax ever.
Scientists disagree with Global Warming all over the world, but they are quickly hushed up.
NASA has openly disagreed with global warming.
I think they lost their government funding didn't they?

People are easily fooled by imagry though.
Think about it.

A big black billowing cloud of of MTA busses for years and years have made people think Diesels are polluters.
But over in Europe where there are more EPA regulations than California could ever jerk off too, they love diesels. Why is that?

But lets look at the flip side of regulations and look at efficiency vs actual pollution output.

If you take a car that gets great fuel mileage. Lets be crazy and say 70 MPG on pump gas.
Per gallon, that car is not polluting much at all. And were talking 70mpg with NO emissions equipment.

Now lets take a car that gets 20MPG and has to have emissions equipment and barely meets requirements.

What car do you think would actually produce less emissions?

The answer is ****ing obvious, but due to regulations, car companies MUST put these devices on their cars.
They must clean "x material" out of the exhaust, hence the new scorpions 40 lb exhaust just to recycle emissions.

Now look at it from a corporate standpoint.

Why do we not have engineers designing 70 MPG hybrid cars that are actually useful?

Duh.
Dependancy.
They cannot tax us to death on fuel if we are using cars that make their own energy.

Now a perpetual motion machine is technically impossible.
But lets say we have a 30% loss in energy.
Thats 70% gained!

Hell, the military uses this in the hummers!
Electric start and diesel run.
Why?
The electric motors torque is more efficient on the start off than the diesel is.
When its up to speed, it switches over.

hey hey!
Glenn.
Glenn.

What do trains use to put power to the tracks?
Huh Huh?
Tell us.

Okay. Electric motors.

Why?

Efficiency.

So, why did GM destroy every one of the most successful electric test cars in history?

Now, we are a diesel forum, and by any means, a 3 ton truck isnt' goign to obtain 70mpg with the technology we are using.

but seeing 3 ton trucks getting 25-35 mpg is simply amazing.

Anyone know what one of the most fuel efficient cars you can buy is?

VW Jetta TDI.

50+ MPG!!!!!!

And you can get more with tunes and injectors!

Ask Clay, he bought one. He loves it.

I'ma hush up now.
This is a touchy subject with me.

It pains me to know that people are SO ignorant about this topic because they believe what they are told instead of hard facts about how things work.
Everything is about efficiency, not how much you can stop pollution coming out.
Make it more efficient and you get more for the same amount of pollution.
What does that mean? Less pollution.

Pollution has 2 L's in it. I keep typing it with 1 and having to go back and fix it.

The sad thing is nothing is ever going to be done until people wise up and start listening to the truth about things.
Till they stop believing these Truths are NOT conspiracy theories.

Those in power will always bend the rules to get more power.
And thus bend them further when you are used to those.

You can make drastic and horrible changes to things if you do it slowly overtime.
If you do something suddenly, of course everyone notices.

Look at our school systems and childern's TV shows.
They teach politics to kids. Progressive/socialistic politics!

Seriously, do you watch your Kids TV shows?
OMFG!
How can they play this **** on TV?

Here is another good fact, it might be a bit off now but close enough. (since the data is a bit old)

Did you know that 83% of College Teachers are Democrats?

Isn't it a shame that some of these stars and celbs that put out such great work are about the most politically stupid people in the world?
