we have a 12k badlands on the flatbed car trailer. 5 or 6 years old now and gets used about 10 times a month dragging dead vehicles up. still works perfectly.

No answer yet... I can tell you that when I had my labrum repaired, I was on perc's for 3-5 days and was off in la la land... for those 3 days...really couldn't do much/or think straight

I have a 12k on my Bronco. Yes, it's over kill, but when the 12k costs less than the 9k, why not! Plus the Badlands have a pretty low duty cycle, but if I'm never pulling anywhere close to max load (Bronco is ~4400 lb), I don't have to worry about it overheating.

What do you think about the quality of the badlands winches? I have been thinking about putting one on my truck since they are considerably cheaper than the likes of Warn or other name brands.

what are you going to be using it for?
will you be using it three times a day, or three times a year?
if the winch is something going on a recovery vehicle that will be heavily used for long periods of pulling time, go with a quality unit.
if the winch is going to be used for 4 minutes to pull a car onto a trailer once a week the badlands will be more than enough.
like i said earlier, we have a 12 k badlands on the car hauler for the past 5-6 years, and it gets used on average two or three times a week to pull dead cars or trucks up the trailer, and we have never had any problems with it at all.

^^What he said. I've used mine to pull stumps more than I've used it to get unstuck. So for me, it's a great choice.
