Elastomeric comes in a couple different brands. They are all about the same. My rubber roof only covers up to the edge of the roof, not over the edge. They then put a caulk around that which over time started leaking. I found this 4" wide tape, super sticky stuff and put it over the caulked seam then painted it with elastomeric. I put a coat on every year and it has never cracked or leaked. I also used that tape around the vents, ac, tv antenna, etc. and painted elastomeric around them. My wife breaks out with mold so it was very important to stop all leaks. We have had some plumping leaks but that's another story!

Actually elastomerics are nowhere near the same, even among the same brands. There are commodity grade to professional grade products that vary greatly in quality. The key is to get the high grade stuff in whatever brand you go with.

The cheaper commodity grade stuff is watered down and has lots of fillers that won't age well.

Thanks for the info Glenn and Chris. The camper I bought this winter isn't leaking anywhere that I have seen yet, but I looked on the roof, and it looks like it needs coated/sealed with something. I'll see what I can find here local in a professional grade elastomeric coating.

Chris is right, I did get the better stuff, it really is thick. Any cracks, even bigger cracks that you don't think this stuff will work on you can just fill in and it will stay.

Not to go off topic on the off topic, but is that what you recommend on my torch down roof every couple of years at the seams?

Is there a problem with the seams failing or coming loose? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. If the material is starting to show signs of age, then coating the entire thing will protect it from the UV and help extend the life.

No sir. Just thinking preventative. If I don't need to do anything, then I certainly won't add more work to my plate. Thanks Chris.

Glenn, has you ignition switch acted up anymore since you put grafite in there? I'm having this problem on the welding truck now. What part do you put the grafite in?

Got to Omaha to see the grandkids and haven't done a thing to the truck, no time. I just left my key in there in the unlock position and used my wife's key to lock the truck. Haven't started it for a week now, been using the Geo. My guess is to pull the ignition switch, blow it out, clean everything up then put graphite on the out side of the ignition switch and inside. Maybe someone will come along and say the proper way.

Happy Sunday fellas...what's everyone up to this beautiful day? Weather is good here, no moving cows or working horses today. I am thankful for that since I need a break. We have been going ninety to nothing for weeks! We are headed down to Ft. worth for a little time wirth the grandparents for my daughter and some Cooper's Pit BBQ with a lot of cold Shiner. I still haven't changed my fuel filters, but that's going down in about 30 minutes before we pull out for the day. Hope you guys are all enjoying the day and dodging the Spring rains. We have had a TON down here. Some of our lakes that were 37 percent are now to full capacity! Crazy....and that's your rancher's almanac report for the week...LOL!!

Thanks Glenn! The rain has been needed so much, but now I sorta wish my home in California would get the same. They REALLY need it.

Hey Byron, you could send some of that rain up this way. It is dryer than a popcorn fart up here. LOL
