That VSS is probably the cause of your trans problem then Bill. If the VSS is bad, then the trans will shift all crazy. Might be an easy fix for your trans issue! I would replace that before you do anything else to the trans!

Yeah, I was reading about that last night when I found the code. Gonna throw a new one in tomorrow night and see what happens. I like simple fixes lol.

So I'm about 1100 kms into a 1700 km trip to see my brother in law. The trucks run flawlessly but I am having an intermittent cruise control issue. Sometimes it just shuts off. I'm guessing I have a short or loose wire somewhere but idk. Not going to worry about it till I get home. I'm not to sure how long the trip home will be but it's got to be over 2000kms.

Both mine and my dads truck do that. His does it more frequently than mine. Interested to see what you find.

Generally everything I replace (unless I'm in a bind for something to get me home) is with an OE/Motorcraft part. I just called the dealer and he has one on the shelf, so gonna pick it up this evening.

When I had an automatic, I was having VSS faults that correlated with shifting issues. When I replaced the transmission with a manual, the VSS faults stopped occurring, even though I did not alter anything to do with the VSS.

That's odd. I have tossed around doing a manual swap, but some say it's not worth it overall to do. Maybe some day.

Have you checked the third brake light and tailgate lights?
