the official OBS diesel off topic thread
I believe they would want you to change the dryer and orifice tube. I was just looking it up in our parts catalog.
This is what it says when I look it up:
"Comments: w/ FS10 A/C Compressor;@To Insure System Performance & as a Condition of Warranty, System Must Be Flushed & A New Filter Dryer / Accumulator & Orifice Tube must be used when Replacing Compressor"

I dunno how many of you guys are using these things, but I picked up a used Edge CTS monitor from a friend. Let me tell you - no idea why I was going to do aftermarket gauges with the information this thing generates. I don't even have an EGT probe hooked up yet.
Now, to learn what all these numbers mean

Glenn you had asked how my truck burnt. In hindsight it was kind of a comical array of events lol. I went home after a long day of work, my girlfriend at the time (wife now) worked the evening shift on a large farm so she was not home. Usually I'd drive in the driveway but this day I decided to back in. I don't know why, I just did. My house at the time was a cozy little rancher. The bottom half of the exterior walls were a dark green stucco and the top half a beautifully stained cedar shake.
I got out of the truck and noticed the garden hose out. I guessed my girl had washed her car in a rush and left the hose. I went to put it away but I had parked on the hose. Oh well I'll get it tomorrow. I go inside and make a lovely microwave dinner and sit by the television. About halfway through I hear an aggressive rapp at the door. YOUR TRUCKS ON FIRE, yells my neighbour. Ahh chit. I run outside, see the smoke, grab the hose, and make it to the drivers door on the truck, chit. My neighbour had a fire extinguisher but by the time we got it it was too late. The whole front of the truck was engulfed in flames. The fire department only took about 7 minutes to get there but it seemed like a lifetime. By then the engine compartment and inside of the cab was gone. While I was talking to the fireman he said batteries catching fire are a common thing. That is where the fire started. If I had driven my truck in the driveway I wouldn't have had a house to live in as well. But on a positive not that is what got me into the Ford diesel world. I bought the MOOSE MACHINE then LOL.

I might consider doing those two then, especially if I make the jump to e-fuel. I was just stunned at what all I could see, even without having an EGT probe. And the DTC mode is great because I had nothing to see any codes that may have been resident in the computer. Found out my VSS is not working right as a result - was tossing a P0500 error code.
Idk glenn. Mine was a used truck battery that was at least 10 years old. I knew it should have been replaced but was putting it off. Now I don't take chances. One morning only a couple of days prior it had let me down. Afterwards I just shook my head cause that was the first sign. Oh well
