This has become pretty normal for spring in So-Cal the last few years. My great grandparents almost lost their place in Santa Barbara back in 08. They live in the foothills and every house around them burnt. The firefighters picked my grandparents house to make their stand because it had the best defensible space. My grandpa had just decided that spring to heavily fire-safe the property too.

We are fine you guys, thanks for the concern. Glenn, the only reason car weren't jammed is because that was literally only 10 minutes after it started. It moved so fast from the Santa Anas that it was on us in no time! We weren't trying to shoot video, but we just happened to be in the right place at the right time while escaping. It was our only way out and it just happened to be right thru the middle of it!! We have friends that have lost everything. It's been devastating. Thanks guys for your prayers and support! I'll post some more photos later!

Wow Byron, glad you're all okay. That's pretty intense!

And no thank you, you can keep your sunny weather, surfing, traffic, socialist policies and wildfires, and I'll keep my subarctic winters, and rainy spring times, lol. I was born in CA (Santa Monica) and my family moved back here before things started getting really nuts out there on the left coast. I'm glad we did!

Holy cow! That video got my heart pumpin! That's scary for sure!

I guess your at a slight advantage since you could literally hook onto your house and get gone if needed!

Easier said then done! I was camping in the Black Hill of SD two summers ago and a fire was bearing down on us. It was every thing I could do to get connected to the 5th wheel and get out of there. I just threw everything aside and left. In town I had to buy a new electric line, sewer line, and water hose because I didn't have time to pack that stuff up.

Not to change the subject, but heres something I learned today:

The Ford Raptor is rated at 11mpg city and 14 highway
It can tow 6000 lbs... That's equivalent to a RANGER!

No way Id buy one of them things! But a Tremor on the other hand...

Wow Byron, that is insane. I couldn't imagine anything like that. Again, glad you are all ok. But wow, some of those houses were toast!

And JP, yeah that is kinda lame. All the raptor has going for it to me, is that it looks cool. I got a friend that is always telling me he's going to get a raptor and its going to smoke my truck. To which I replied, I don't care, I didn't buy my truck for that. But those tow numbers are incredibly lame!

Im not sure how you can de-tune a truck from 11,300 lbs to 6,000. That's nearly half!

Suspension, that's how. The Raptor is designed with a softer, long travel suspension to soak up uneven surfaces and jumps, not for hauling and towing. It's just a different type of setup for a very different purpose. They're pretty impressive off road, but for the money, I'd buy a newer diesel crew cab and a dune buggy on a trailer, lol.
