So...what is it? You can't post something like this and not give details. Inquiring minds need to know...
Yeah, I'd be curious to know what the recommendation is now. I've got to go back through and look, but I think I'm running Valvoline Synthetic ATF in mine. I can't recall whether that's what I put in the trans and T/Case or not.
I got lucky phil. I had to start th skid steer up to move it out of the way and lift the boom. When I was done that the fan had spit the cat out and threw it against the exit grate/guard. I took the grate off, removed what was left, hosed it all out and carried on. Everything went better than expected. I'm surprised about the coon. I can't believe that would take out an auger.

i hate doing stupid stiff in the cold when extremely tired..
i needed to replace the packing cup on a snow plow lift ram. so i tried doing a quick fix with it on the truck.
took it apart, and replaced the packing cup. went to put it back together and could not get the cap to seat. then broke the cap.
called it quits and cane inside, 3 hours later took a 12 hour nap.
i woke up at 3 am with a "you dumb ***" realization.
i realized i never bedded the lift ram in the lift tube.
went out at 11am and it took less than 1 hour to take it apart, change 2 seals, bed the ram, replace 2 o-rings, put a new cap on, fill with oil, and test.
it is amazing what 16 hours sleep will do for the mind.

Yup, sometimes that's all it takes! I've been partway through a project before.. Called it quits, getting nowhere fast. Next day, it was the sudden realization that caused my head to snap back, or maybe it was my head hitting the lift bar, snapping my head back.. Either way, It came to me what I was doing wrong. Glad you got the plow fixed though!

Gotta pay it off to afford the $5 car wash lol
Update on the 6.uhoh. I was discussing with my dad what he thought it might be (he's had an 04 6.0 for 8 years) and then it hit me: I have a water-in-fuel light on... Water + cold = stranded. My dad said might as well change fuel filters on it too. Glad I did. They looked pretty skanky. I might have to snap a pic.
The previous owner said he changed the oil with royal purple every 3,000 miles. But that must be the only maintenance he did...

Right? Naw, I detailed it afterwards.. That was just the picture after testing out the clutch on the back roads! Didn't get a picture of it detailed though. Guess I forgot in all the excitement of going broke just buying a terry cloth and wax!

Glad it's something simple.
As for the PO, sound like I'mma have to throw the BS flag. Who in their right mind spends that much to pour the oil out every 3,000 miles and then neglects everything else? Sounds like he was trying to sell something to you. Hopefully the fuel filter is all you need. Dump some diesel 911 in the fuel bowl before you button it back up.
