Free time? I have no idea what that is!!! Lol. I'm neck deep in projects, truck work for other people, and my day job.

I worked on a '96 Dodge 4x4 3/4 ton front end all day today. I've done several of them and its always a nice reminder that my Fords are superior. Lol.

Yesterday we went and picked up a '98 Dodge 4x4 5 speed for my brother to build another sled pulling truck. This one was used for pulling before. We have to build one of the 12v engines we got with it and set up the chassis this winter and see if we can get him on the pulling track next year.

That along with getting my OBS ready for the track next year and getting my friends Fummins ready for the track next year is going to be a heck of a challenge.

 

I just started diving into truck stuff for next year myself today. Chassis work on the show truck, starting to get the SD spring swap going on the OBS, etc., etc.. Got a full agenda for sure.

I'm right there with you buddy! I've got a '95 F250 in the shop right now swapping front leaf springs and doing ball joints and brakes on it. Got an '03 Cummins dually coming tomorrow or next day for a fan clutch and alternator. A '96 F350 cab n chassis 4x4 after that for a ZF trans teardown to replace a busted tail housing and solid flywheel and new clutch. Then, a 7.3 SD ZF6 4x4 for ball joints, clutch master and slave, and who knows what else, it's been sitting for a year. And finally, a '97 F250 PSD to do glow plugs and SD UVCHs on. I been trying to do stuff to my truck, and work on my project all summer, but haven't had time to do anything. I have a growing list of stuff I want to do to my truck this winter, hopefully. I wanna rebuild the gas/diesel hybrid trans and get it and a new clutch back in my truck. I have a Dana 80 rear end with disc brakes I wanna try to swap in. A 55 gallon fuel tank I wanna put under it, and on and on.

 

That's too much money for the mileage. It'd be fair around $12000 IMO. I gave $11500 for my SD with 160k on it.

I feel you. I have a couple smaller jobs like that to get done for people pretty soon. They gonna pay me, so I gotta get those done ASAP.

 

That truck is gorgeous. Never see that clean stuff up this way...lol.

I am facing the clock pretty hard on my SD swap - the OBS doesn't fit in the shop here...so I gotta get done sooner than later. That and my rear pick-up tube. Hopefully gonna make the trip to Antrim Diesel Days on Saturday and catch up with the guy that has it.

I have considered an SD spring swap, but I don't know if I'll ever do it. I would like to do a reverse shackle on the front though. You doing the reverse shackle or just the spring swap?

 

Yeah, doing reverse shackles with a Sky Offroad 3" RSK kit, 5" OUO Traction Block in the rear. U code front springs, B code rear springs. Probably going to add about 3" or so in height, which is fine.

 

That's gonna look petty good.

 

This is off the Sky site - similar to how mine might look when it's done. I think this has the 5" RSK kit on it though.

 

I love lifted trucks, and the look, but I have a hard enough time trying to get the front of my goose neck down. I built a recessed pin box into the bed of my truck that pins to my bed rails to bring the front of the trailer down. I have it riding pretty level now, but now the bed sides are close to the goose neck. I'm gonna have to make the uprights on the goose neck longer I think. My truck is a 4x4 dually and would look great lifted, but I built this truck to tow and a lift would take away from that. If one of these years I ever get the other CC project truck built, it will be lifted for sure!

 

Here's the hitch I built and a couple pics of how the trailer rides. You can see how close it is to the bed rails.

 

I tow flat behind me, so the height issue isn't a big deal in that regard. I'm going up, but not a lot, just to get some more stance and run slightly bigger tire/wheel combination. Both of my trucks will be lifted then - and you're right, there's just something about that look.

But of course, if a lift doesn't suit the functionality, it makes sense not to. I mean, these trucks are built to work, really.
