I'm curious as to how the SD mod could take care of my issue. Don't you still have to use that idler pulley location?

Todd as for numbers I got about 360 PSI on 6 of 8. The other two (6 and 8) must have eaten some dust at one point or another because they're a little lower at about 310 and 330 each. That's more than the 10% deviation I was hoping to stay within but I guess it's still better than what I'm running now. I plan to test the compression again on the engine I'm running now when I do the injector o-rings and I'll compare the number then. That way I can decide whether the swap will be worth the effort. If the truck runs okay with different injectors an new o-rings in it, I may just keep this PSD on the stand as a spare and run the one that's in the truck until I either can't stand it anymore or it quits. I haven't fully decided what my plans are yet.
Those numbers aren't horrendous. Obviously of the other 2 were closer to your 360, you'd be in tall cotton. I think you're on the right path. Check comp again in your current motor, check out these different sticks and she what she does. At the very least, I know where you can sell an acc bracket! Lol

OK, as I said I'm new to this diesel game, so explain to me why you'd toss a SD belt tensioner on an OBS?

CUZ YOU CAN!

My understanding is the factory tensioner tends to wear on one side of the belt and tends to fail prematurely. (im not positive, but it makes sense in my mind)

The SD tensioner has two pulleys so it basically evens out the wear.

Also, you can use a 1/2" breaker bar to release the tension. No socket required.

To keep the belt from eating its self. In other words, it stays lined up better. Great mod!!

I feel like I'm still new around here lol. There's a bunch of "small" mods I don't know about. I had never heard of the crank case vent mod until I went to RRE and now a super duty tensioner lol.

We need a thread dedicated to OBS 7.3L Mods lol

Hehehe...

Those are some crazy pictures guys.

Todd good luck on your list of stuff to complete before the baby arrives. I'm at T minus 14 weeks right now. Wow, that just sank in! I've got a lot truck repairs and home improvement projects to do before then too.

I've been meaning to ask this for some time now, but it kept slipping my mind. What do you guys do for child seats in the EC trucks and in the RC trucks?

Phil and Todd, I am getting stoked for you guys! The new addition is going to be so epic. As far as the child seat in the RC, I have seen it done in the middle using the belt to hold it in place. They all come with a strap that is made to go over the seat and attach to something behind the seat for an anchor point. You'll see what I mean pretty quick. The same will apply to the EC. Any seat should fit back there and the seat belt will be used to anchor it in. God bless!!!

Congrats on 200,000. You're only 66,513 behind me!

Speaking of my beloved new 7.3L...I need a hand from you guys:

Take the diesel to work. Runs fine going to work. Go to fire it up after work, it struggles, but starts. Sounds like a little hesitation or loping in the idle, but seems stable and I'm in the hood (as much as there is one in this town) so off we go. Seems to run fine as long as I'm in it and on flat ground, but eventually, I'm dropping power climbing the grade out of town. By the time I crest the top of the hill, I'm doing 30 in a 45.

CEL did pop on (more on that in a moment), and it's hazing a bit of blue but not a major cloud of anything. Cut down some side streets because at this point I'm having a hard time even getting to 25mph. Wander through the backside neighborhood and it eventually stalls/shuts down on a slight hill.

Now I'm in country club district...and there's a no parking sign where I'm sitting and they're getting ready to tar and chip. So, I figure I should give it a shot to start it after sitting there a minute. Thing fires right up, takes off like nothing of the past 15 minutes ever happened - runs like a champ.

Tried pulling codes with my OBDII reader, but it says there are none, but the CEL light is out now. It is possible that my OBDII might be incompatible for the truck - will dig into that more in a few.

Good thing is, I'll be driving the my 1/2 ton tomorrow to meet with a guy doing some airbrush interior work, so no risk of getting stuck anywhere...just in case I do have a bigger issue needing attention with this one.

So, what on earth just happened here?

I'm not sure if the sd tensioner would help Todd or not, I just ment if he gets a new bracket to go ahead and cut/mod it to fit the sd tensioner before he puts it on. Here is a link to when I did mine for you guys. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...e-over-38.html
