Man! I really hate this for you, Glenn..
And for the guys down here at RRE that were looking forward to meeting you and spending some time getting acquainted.
What's strange is.....you were less than 40 miles from my house there at Ripley!
I am very glad you met one of the good ones to help you out.

Man Glenn, you're luck for RRE is about the worst. I'm so glad you found a good family to help you out. Kinda hard to believe the pcm, idm and cps were all bad at one time?? No wts light kinda sounds like the pcm though. I'd probably try that idm again sometime later. Maybe the pcm too after you get home. Won't hurt to try.

I hope your travels get less exciting and things go well for you from now on. Probably better grab another cps when you can. Good luck bud!

I agree maybe next year you should drive a car and maybe leave the 5er at home. Heck there's a few of us along the way that'd offer a ride! Just not me... I don't need my truck jinxed

Just kidding Glenn!

haha, maybe next year I'll borrow my daughters car and drive down! I just can't say enough to guys who travel, CARRY PARTS! I would have been screwed without them. If I would have ended up in a shop or god forgive a stealership it would have turned into a nightmare. People who wanted and offered a tow to a shop I kept saying, I want to try a few more things, lol.

Yeah, it just kills me that I for once couldn't have pulled up my lawn chair and BSed with all you guys!! I wondered where you lived and I was surprised when I saw where Bill lived. For some reason I thought he was farther east.

Thanks Darin! I look back and can't help but think 'kinda hard to believe the chain of events'. Maybe my so called good CPS's were bad, they weren't when I pulled them out. I will try them (PCM & IDM) when I get home and I tried to get another CPS today but they were closed. I feel naked traveling without a PCM and IDM, lol.

Glad you got it sorted out, Glenn. At times it feels like there's not many good people left in the world but you certainly found a few.

My luck for RRE was about the same. Steering issues did me in on Friday morning, so I had to limp it back home and sort all that out between Friday and yesterday. All better now, but no trip to TN this year, yet again.

Oh man, I only have to repeat this comment. And as Aaron said: I hope your travels get less exciting and things go well for you from now on.

Thanks, I wrote down what I feel and remember was the chain of events. I should start a new thread and see if someone could figure it out. Probably just my RRE jinx!!

I'll say this Glenn, there was a whole lot of guys at RRE, including myself, that were very bummed out that we couldn't meet you.

My rear springs are a mess due to a bad lift by PO and spring wrap.

I spoke to a spring maker in Vancouver BC that recommended removing all the blocks (8" in total) and using a 8" lift spring. I am concerned that the truck will ride really harsh with that much spring arc.

So my question is this,

Do I get rid of the stock 4"block and the 4" lift block and use a 8" lift spring?
OR
Do I get rid of the 4" lift block and get a 4" lift spring?

Finally they have options on spring rate. HD is offered or softride. I do have airbags on the truck which I am not attached to.

The ultimate goal here is to put a truck camper in the back for family trips. The camper weighs around 2000lbs.

ON another note.

Awesome that Glenn met some good people that helped him out on the side of the road. I would like to think that could happen more often. I hope he makes it back home safe and sound.

On my half ton, I run a re-arched spring that completely eliminates blocks altogether. It rides fine for a lifted truck - maybe slightly harsher than stock. But, it's also much lighter truck than these old bosses are (it's a 1998), and BDS (the company I got my lift from) allegedly engineered the spring rate on the lift springs to be more in line with the stock ride habits.

Your case feels sort of like a "flip a coin" situation. I know people who run 8" lift springs with no blocks and love it, and those who hate it. If it were me, I'd probably go for the stock 4" block and a 4" lift spring myself.
