Phil, I could send you my leak tester (if I can find it...) but for the cost of shipping you can build one of your very own! Here's what I came up with on mine. I think all I bought were the PVC pipe pieces. I had the rest of the junk laying around here. I think it was all 3" PVC. Short piece of pipe (beveled on the end and roughed up with sandpaper so it will grip and not fly out - scaring the living bejeezus out of you -- voice of experience here...), threaded clean out cap and, well, you get the idea.
It's pretty simple but it makes it easier not having to hold an air chuck on a valvestem. Just hook up the hose, crank the regulator open and watch the gauges until you get to the pressure you want. Works pretty well.

a little back history.
most of you know i ran a body shop for many years, then gave it up after it got progressively harder to do body work due complications from a broken neck in 82.
i still stop by and do little things, plus helped keep the shop open after my ex partner get very sick 2 years ago.
back in november i dropped the 04 off for some rear brake work because i was getting ready to get my leg rebuilt and did not have the time to fix it before getting laid up.
so the job was given to "young buck" Rogers nephew Braden, and eventually the person who hopefully will take over the shop.
well young buck did not listen and took the truck apart without tagging anything. then continued taking it apart to swap the new cab on it.
6 months later he was ready to put it all back together, and forgot where everything went. and since he did not listen, there was no pictures or tags on anything to say where it went.
he eventually got everything back in running order with help from both of us.
i went over there this morning to drop off a hand truck.
as i got to the back of the building i saw the back door was open.
he was inside working on the 66 GT-350 mustang that is getting a total restoration and had the cowl set up on the welding table, looking at it.
when he saw me he sighed and said thank god you are here, could you weld this up for me? uncle Roger is really pissed at me and i don't want to screw this up.
so i just ended up spending almost 2 hours in a 95 degree shop on a sunday welding the cowl for a $90,000 car together.
that damn kid owes me big time.
but he did pay very close attention to how i clamped it all together, and how i stitch welded it to keep the panels from warping, asking questions as i went.
i also noticed there was a board with around 40 pictures of the cowl, and another stack of pictures of the car, so he is learning to pay attention.

Damn.. well that's good he is learning though! That was a huge favor you did for him though, especially with all the surgery and stuff it looks like you are going to get!
I'd love to have someone teach me welding stuff, but I don't have anyone nearby that knows how to do it. I'm sure if I spend time messing around and looking on youtube, I could get better. All the welding I've done in the past looks miserable! I've been using a mig welder with no gas though. My neighbors horse feeder bins are still holding up from my welds though!

The only welding I've ever done is with grandpa's old stick welder. It's always done what I needed it to do. Though, not pretty. If my grandpa was still around he would tell me it looks like a bird crapped on it lol.
It's like that fast and furious meme with Dom, cross threaded or not, tight is tight. Lol.
