That really is awesome.
Yea... I think I am one of the lucky ones... but I will admit that it is starting to have issues.... 2-3 shift is not friendly and it sometime gets stuck between gears. But once in gear it holds strong.

What's these conditions? Where are you? Where are our pics? Are you preparing yourself mentally for how much work you have to do swapping parts over? Come on Glenn, inquiring minds want to know!

It finally quit snowing a few hours ago Darin, but no power yet. Just got power at work a little while ago, so I guess I'll go to work tomorrow. That is if Glenn let's know what's up with this truck! I'm not moving from this computer until he does! LOL!!

Richard
Original DMF was taken out at 260k miles... Since then I have never NEEDED to change the clutch. Only wanted to try something different to see what the results would be. So I tried a kevlar ceramic which I changed out simply b/c I wanted to try a full ceramic AND b/c a diesel leak washed the grease out of the throwout bearing and it was making a little noise, so trans would come out anyways.. Only changed the full ceramic out b/c I wanted the ability to launch in 3rd gear at 4000+ RPM.

I don't know why people think a clutch is only good for 100k miles. I'm fixing to change a clutch on a 2000 SD ZF6 that has 315k miles on it that has had a trailer w/ construction equipment on board hooked to it for just about every day of it's life. Clutch still works fine, just pulling it to add a Valair b/c he doesn't want it to go out on him while he is pulling one of his goosenecks loaded down.

I will admit that autos are nice though when you just want to sit back and ride. I just put stage 1's and a TW chip in a '96 about a month ago, but until it's in overdrive it feels like the trans is going tear apart if you put any kind of power through it. Can't go more than half throttle unless your in overdrive or you lock out 3rd gear. That trans has 160k miles on it. So he is swapping in a ZF5.. $5k for a built auto or $1500 for a ZF5 swap was an easy choice for him I guess. LOL

Uh oh!.......oh well, it'll be worth it! New truck and a happy momma!! Congrats buddy! I know you'll like having more room in the cab, and I think you'll like it for towing also. I'm assuming that you will have the JW trans put in this truck.

I dont see why he would replace the tranny... it was already done. wait till it has problems..

I have a feeling he might be cancelling his JW order.

There were no details in the ad, just said "heavy duty transmission with overdrive". A lot of people assume the trans is "heavy duty" because it's in a i ton truck. Glenn mentioned in an earlier post that JW may have a different truck to put the trans in, so I was just assuming.....

True...

It's been 28 minutes since Glenn's last post.... I think he is being lazy...

Maybe he is just trying to build up the suspense as we hang on his every word...
