I test drove a (iirc) 2010 Jetta a few years back. Way to much plastic and too "girly" feeling for me. Besides, the Cruze gets better fuel mileage and makes more power!

The Cruze diesel is actually the top of the line Cruze with a diesel slapped in it. So it has leather, navi, the whole 9 yards. The Fiesta SFE is the middle of the road model. What really sold me on the Cruze is how big it feels. It's definitely made for bigger people. I can slide the seat all the way back and not e able to touch the pedals. My Powerstroke can't even do that!

Yeah The Jetta's are just ok IMO, I havent' been real impressed with them,

JP Do you know who makes the engine for that Cruz? Like is it a Chevy made engine or does some one else make it. I'm trying to picture what one of those looks like, I wouldn't mind having a diesel car again, but it would have to be another old benz or somthing...lol

I know a few people with VW TDIs and they all love them! Whether its the jetta, golf, or whatever. They can do some sweet mods to them to better performance and mileage. They all say they get better mpg than EPA estimates and most of them say you really should get the standard transmission. The dual clutch autos in the early years aren't that great and down shift a lot.
An older TDI was merging on the interstate in front of me once (early 90s tdi) and practically smoked me out! I had to chuckle inside because he made more than I could ever make!
I haven't really looked into the new ones because I wouldn't be looking at purchasing new, but when I graduate I hope to swap the escort for a VW TDI.

...or put a 4bt in the escort. Who knows lol.
In reality Ill probably spend so much on the truck right away that I am forced to keep the escort.

I honestly have no idea how I'd feel about getting back in a car. With a lifted F150, a soon-to-be-lifted 7.3L, and an Expedition that is as close to a car as I have owned in some 8 years...I'd be clueless. I hate driving the company's cars...lol.

I told myself Id never own another car after trading my lifted '02 F-150 King Ranch in on a 2010 Mustang V6... But I wont ONLY own a car, so when I get the urge to drive a truck, Ill hop in the PSD.

And I cant recall who makes the diesel in the Cruze. Its not Chevy and its not whoever makes Dmaxs. Google says its made in Germany and has been around for awhile in foreign cars so its proved itself already. Its not one of those "lets try this" deals and end up like the 6L...

I think Isuzu makes the Dmax engine. They are in kahoots with GM.

Yeah the European engines are usually pretty good. And like you say you already got the truck. So you would have the best of both worlds. Fuel sipper car, and then pull anything you want truck.

Nothin wrong with driving a car. So long as it's got style speed an handling(you know, the kind that make the passenger frantically look for the holy s#*t handles) lol

For some weird reason I couldn't get on the site for the last day so I started browsing a local jet boating forum. Bad Idea. It refreshed my memory that I really want to take my boat up the upper Pitt river. Nice place to go. Good hunting and fishing but not the most user friendly river to boat. When I finally grow a big enough set to go I'll be sure to get it on a gopro. Only thing that has kept me from it so far is 1-2 boats don't make back each year. Just a couple of weeks ago a guy flipped his boat with 4 passengers and no life jackets. All survived but his boat was completely submersed.

I've got no rebuttal to this. How I'm still friends with Bill after all this is beyond me. Lol

My wife said something about me not having yet having a vise a RRE and everyone just kinda groaned. Lol

That is BEAUTIFUL! but man were there a lot of obstacles.
You'd have to have a pretty light and agile boat to do that comfortably.
