The stacks would have been too much on their own......but since he put the tow mirrors on there too, it all came together...........

I'll tell you how in one word!

Cummins.

In other news, I would like to report that engine temperature seems to play little or no significance in the results of a compression test. Last night I tested 6 of the 8 holes in the engine in parts truck '14 before the grease gun tube popped (or at least I thought it did). I only had cylinders 6 and 8 left to do when I heard a loud "POP!" and the last two results were a lot lower. Replaced the hose tonight and completed the test on holes 6 and 8 and the retested the other 6 just for the sake of comparison. Absolutely no difference in readings. None. The first test was run with an EOT of 170* and tonight I finished it with the engine at about 72* ambient. No difference in readings on any of the holes. I'll test the engine in my truck as well and compare those results once I get my injector o-rings in the mail. That will be an even better test since I will be able to test at around 170* EOT and compare that to one done when it was about 20* ambient.

Long story short, don't worry about doing your compression tests at operating temperature. All it does is created a hundred places to burn yourself.

Oh and a new hose tonight reveals that the test results on holes 6 and 8 actually are lower than the rest anyway. Go figure.

Couldn't agree more with how great this place is Byron.

Seriously Bill, I thought you had your fill of mustangs and stacks when you were texting those pics out. I think this is actually your super secret build and you're just testing the waters!!??

Numbers Nate?

On an actual truck note. As some of you know, I smoked an idler pulley at RRE. It still chirped a bit as we replaced it with Gabes (thanks again!) old one. I believe it was still chirping because when it spun itself, it actually cut into the accessories bracket a bit. The pulley itself is now just a hair cocked. As I was putting SCA into the degas bottle this evening, I noticed the belt had skipped a rib and cut a rib. Still operating just fine. The rib that was cut was kinda flopping though. Lol. Threw the spare belt that Nate gave me on (thanks again!) and away I went. Not sure what I'm going to do about it yet. I don't really need the truck but to get materials for the house, I don't have time to work on it, we are less than 10 weeks out for the baby and I don't even have drywall up yet!!! Trust me it's not for lack of effort. I guess I'll do the brake job on my DD this weekend and worry about the truck down the road. Cause I'm sure I'll have nothing but time with a new baby.......

And todd called us rednecks up here. You kinda threw him a line there Bill haha. Glad i could help Todd, are you just gonna replace the bracket? If you find a replacement, go ahead and trim it so you can install the sd tensioner mod later on.

That bring up a good question Gabe, could Todd just install a SD tensioner on this bracket to solve his issue? (well, the issue with is serp belt, at least...) I don't know exactly how the SD tensioner fastens on, but does it need that face that is buggered up?(the one on the bracket, I mean...)

Todd as for numbers I got about 360 PSI on 6 of 8. The other two (6 and 8) must have eaten some dust at one point or another because they're a little lower at about 310 and 330 each. That's more than the 10% deviation I was hoping to stay within but I guess it's still better than what I'm running now. I plan to test the compression again on the engine I'm running now when I do the injector o-rings and I'll compare the number then. That way I can decide whether the swap will be worth the effort. If the truck runs okay with different injectors an new o-rings in it, I may just keep this PSD on the stand as a spare and run the one that's in the truck until I either can't stand it anymore or it quits. I haven't fully decided what my plans are yet.
