Cutting out while driving.

I have a 96 7.3 F350, pretty sure I have a fuel issue, but not sure where and was wondering if anyone else has ran into this.
I've been through several threads on the subject, but the ones I've found don't seem to quite fit the symptoms. Pretty much all of them say something in the electronics, but that doesn't seem right to me.
In the mornings while it's cold it'll cut out multiple times for a half a second or so for around 3 to 5 miles then clear up and run fine the rest of the day.
Now I'm discovering that if I try to run 65-70 that within 5 minutes it'll cut out too. I can back off the throttle a hair and it's fine.
Any idea where I should start looking for this? I'm thinking about going ahead and rebuilding the fuel bowl, been a many a miles since I've done that.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Is the engine stock? Have the filters been changed recently? Good oil level?

Those are good starting spots, really need gauges or a code reader for much more.

It's chipped, first thing I did was change the fuel filter, figured that wasn't going to be the problem since it hadn't been long since it was changed.
I am a bit overdue for an oil change, level is fine, just slightly below full.

It's fine, this started about a week ago, nearly new batteries also.

TPS might have empty spot. Check voltage swing.

It sounds similar to what happens when people are having intermittent issues with a camshaft position sensor. When I was having trouble with mine, the truck would stall, though.

Yea, I've thought about that, kinda have my doubts about that one too. I had put a new one in about 6 months ago when I was having another problem, that wasn't the problem at that time.
I do have the one I took out, was thinking about trying it just to be sure.
It just doesn't seem to fit the symptoms though, I could be wrong.

Does the tach drop when it cuts out?

What is fuel pressure at idle and 1k, 2, 3k rpm?
Should not drop below 45

Can be a ground issue, GPs were on and alt is trying to charge up system again.

Yea, the tach drops a few hundred rpm, about what I would expect for an engine cutting out, doesn't drop to zero.
I did about a 200 mile trip today, runs great as long as you don't go above 65, at 70 within a minute or two it'll start bucking. It's saying to me I'm not getting enough fuel. I really don't think there's anything wrong with the injector firing system.
OK, on further inspection I did find that my ICP sensor is broken, that is part of the fuel system, so I'm hoping that's the issue. I've got a new one ordered from Riff Raff, so we'll see what happens after I install it.

my 97 7.3L when your steady driving around any of these speeds 50-70mph even tho it’s happened to me when I was going 25mph. But if u listen to truck when it happens you can hear it completely come out of gear, rpm stays same but speedometer starts to drop until I can come to complete stop put it in park then back into Drive and then it will stay in gear all the way till redline then it will shift hard enough to throw u back and it will do this up until 3rd gear/4th gear and then u can hear it I think go into gear cuz it will grab it good and runs smooth and normal again but this happens to me 3-5 times each day, what do u think?

I think you should create your own thread about this issue. That way, this thread can stay focused on the original poster’s issue, and you can, in turn, get focused attention on your problem.

yeah I made a new separate thread about this issue. I literally googled ford forums and signed up 10 mins ago so I wasn’t even sure how forums work tbh haha 😆 but I’m catching on plus I have no choice I’ve had tranny, rear end, powertrain specialist and nobody can figure it out but anyways thanks for the heads up!!!

I had to go out of town again today. On the way down and halfway back I could only do the typical 65, but suddenly it would run up to 80 with no issues, no clue what changed.
The sensor did come in yesterday, but I haven't replaced it yet, so I may never know if that was the problem or not.
I'm going to replace it anyway since it is broke.

Broke is bad. I don’t see how it couldn’t have some symptoms with it damaged like that. Hopefully that fixes it.
