What people mistake for a rear main leak almost always comes from higher on the engine. Are you sure it's the main?

I don't have the info you are looking for (though I am relatively sure that you could find it by using the "search forum" button), but I will offer you this. It is a very rare event indeed that the rear main seal gives out on this engine. I'd be certain (using uv dye to locate the origin of the leak) before tearing into the rear main job. I'm not saying that it can't be the seal, just that the source of your leak is more likely from somewhere else (usually from the valley).

Thanks for asking, but yes, it is the rear main seal. I've purchased it, someone else removed the old and I want to be sure to install properly since I've heard two or three different ways including a special tool.

Replacing the rear main requires a special tool, although there's usually a way around most special tools if you've done it before. I think there's also a wear ring on the crankshaft.
