maval power steering pumps?

2000 f150 5.4. Has anyone had any experience with maval reman power steering pumps ?Are they better than the motorcraft stp8rm reman pumps?

Having trouble with cardones quality, maybe the extra buck is worth it

Would go with a junk yard pump first over a reman pump.

Well you never know what your going to get at a junk yard, I guess the same goes for cardone, first pump I got I took the rubber cover off the nipple right at the parts counter at an auto parts store and the nipple was all nicked up, but it was painted nice, then I took the high pressure red plastic screw in cap off and there was rust in it, I looked at the parts guy as said "Um I dont think I want this one, do you have another?" He looked shocked gave me another
Went and installed it and had a moan and a whine, bleed it 3 times, lock to lock 40 turns , replaced the high side , return and cleaned the res, using merc V, no luck
Took a steh to the back of the pump by the valve and well, theres my noise
called and returning it, but I got screwed out of a core cuz I dont want another
Ordered a motorcraft reman stp8rm and ate the core!!! Never again cardone

Did you get the motorcraft reman pump at the dealer or are there other
parts sources ? How much did you pay and do you think the pump for the
V6 engine would be less money ?

I am thinking about replacing my steering pump on my 2000 V6 and just called
NAPA and their reman pumps are $58 with $85 core charge.

Rockauto.com carries some Motorcraft rebuilt parts, I got a rebuilt tailgate motor for my Bronco from them (the only motor that fits without rework in a terrible place to work!).

But I looked up your 2000 V6, and Rockauto didn't list a motorcraft rebuilt for it. They DID list an ATSCO rebuilt.

I had a very good experience with a ATSCO rebuilt Ford CII steering pump in the 1990's, it ended the "Power steering pumps from hell" from A1 Cardone... I went through THREE Cardone pumps, one after the other. Each one was worse than the one before. The last one absolutely gushed PS fluid out the shaft. My original leaking pump was better than any of the Cardone rebuilts!

The ATSCO pump was a high quality part in comparison. Came with good instructions too, and a 1-800 number to call if you have any difficulties. Hopefully they have kept it up.
