covering chrome

I got chrome side nerf bars currently chrome with rust spots.

I would like to paint these over with Duplicolor bedliner paint or similar

product.

Has only done similar work covering over chrome.

I donʻt want to spend to much time stripping the chrome, maybe just

scuffing it.

Any tips?

Powder coating those would be ~$75.
Or build or buy some actual sliders.

Chrome is a PIA to paint. You can give it a try, use self etching primer, it will help adhesion.

Couldn't you hit it real fast with a light sand paper to scuff it? I have never tried to paint chrome and i am pretty sure just straight up painting it won't work, but i would think scuffing it would.

Also if you want to keep the chrome and make it look cool,
Alsa Corp | The World's Most Exotic Paints and Finishes
This place has some really cool paints and can do spray paints. They got paint that you put on chrome to make weird stuff, and might have something to help rid of the chrome.
