poor fuel quality or a knock sensor.

Has to do with timing.

Are you getting a Check Engine Light? What did the dealer say the first time? Does it have lack of power? Are you positive it is engine knock?

no engine lights ,in the dealership now knocking or pinging is a very peculiar sound and this engine knocks all the time light accel, moderate and heavy accell dosnt matter the octane much worse with 87 which this engine was designed to run on even service tech was shaking his head saying this should not be happening

got to be a sensor out of wack that controls fuel/air mixture and timing.

Is it KNOCKING (like a wrist pin knock) or is it pinging (detonating from too low octane fuel)...there's a big difference.

Exactly what I was asking. Seems likely that he means detonation.

If I were you I would have the technician make a note in the computer stating that you feel the integrity of the engines internals has been compromised due to the excessive detonation. I blew a hole in my number 5 piston in my ranger on startup because of detonation from a bad tune that was running the truck way too lean.

And just to clarify so we are all on the same page if you have a limited supply of fuel you have a lean condition which causes detonation not knocking...

A few miles will not hurt it. As long as you are light on the throttle.

No WOT or towing.
