Tunes, ECM VS FICM or both

Getting ready to tune my 6.0. So far the short list has Matts' tunes (XCAL3) and PHP tunes from FICM repair. I would like to have a moderate performance tune for daily driving, maybe a street race tune for occasional fun and a tow tune when Im pulling my 10K fifth wheel. I know with multiple profiles I would need an uploader. My truck is studded and a MBRP 4" trbo back exhaust is on the way. I am sending my my FICM to FICM repair, I am just not sure about which is my best option, add a tune there or get an uploader and tune the ECM. Dont know anything about stacking tunes (Pros vs Cons). Any advice?

Have Ed rollback the FICM to an early profile. This will give you the best HP/TQ AND you'll get better MPG

Then have ED flash the FICM with a Atlas 40 or Atlas 80. Talk to PHP about which would be your best tune. Probably the Atlas 40.

Finally, dial up Matt @ Gearheads. Get his three pack tune. Since you have studs, get the SRL+. Trust me, Matt's tunes are....fun....alot of fun.

as far as stacking tunes, Bill @ PHP says you don't get any true performance gains from stacking the FICM and PCM tuning. The FICM is mostly for driveability and economy gains.

You can get HP/TQ gains from the FICM alone however. But it's harder to program the FICM and change things out.

That's why you tune the FICM with a good base for driveability (Atlas 40), and then switch things up with the PCM tunes.

there is. Matt fools the PCM into more boost by messing with the way the PCM "see's" the boost.

He's talked about it on PSN. Do you have gauges? Most guys see boost in the 30's with the SRL+.

Thanks Tylus! Gonna talk to Ed tommorow. The FICM is going to him anyway for repair. I have 48volts continuous but I also have a FICM fault code(P0611 if I remeber right). Going to get him to beef it up and reflash. Never thought about going to an older flash. Thanks for the advice.
