6.2L Mileage Gains with a programmer?
<HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff; COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1>I've recently acquired a 2011 F250 with a 6.2L. I am averaging a 14/16 MPG combined and 9 MPG when towing. I was wondering if anyone was using a programmer and received any mileage gains. Please let me know what brand you are using and the gain increase. I'm hoping to get a little better than the 14/16.
Thanks,

You want better then 14/16, you better go get a F150 Ecoboost. Those are good numbers for a truck that size. 9-10 towing is about what everyone gets no matter what motor they have so that part won't change.
A programmer will not yield you any MPG improvements, it will wake up the motor and help with the shift points though.

I got the 87 tunes, performance, tow, and economy. The performance is awesome but will suck down the gas, just because you cant stay off the pedal. I do use the tow all summer while towing the camper, the shift points are perfect while towing and rarely use the tow/haul mode. During the winter I use the economy tune to try to help with the MPG's. I do switch once in a while if I wanna have some fun. But Mike at 5 Star can do custom tunes for you too, I think.
