hey guys,

so i swapped out the 400 in my f350 after it threw a rod, now we pretty much have everything hooked back up and we can't get the starter to engage. i replaced the starter and solenoid and also the battery. when we jumped the solenoid the starter cranked, i'm thinking either a ground we missed, or a blown fuse maybe? any thoughts?

 

The engine block is the ground on our trucks for the starter. So if the block isn't grounded to the frame, and the battery grounded to the frame, and the solenoid grounded, it won't start. So grounds is a good place to start. When you jump it from the solenoid does it stay running?

 

haven't gotten that far yet. i was just cranking it to make sure everything engaged. i'm hooking up the carb linkage tonight and putting on the exhaust manifolds and exhaust. i'll make sure to check the grounds as well. would it have anything to do with the neutral safety switch?

 

figured it out. it was the neutral safety switch. i jumped the plug and she cranked no problem.
