I'm looking for a glow plug wiring harness for the 80-86 style harness i need a complete intact one that i can plug in and go basically. from the connector at the chassis harness to the controller and plug connectors. this truck is my daily driver and the harness is messed up somewhere im only getting power to the right bank of plugs not to the left. ive replaced the controller and that didn't fix it. so i started tracing down power and im losing it somewhere in the harness. can any body help me out

 

Its most likely a broken wire. I can't remember anyone making a replacement harness for these things. You could check your local junk yard. But u may just be better off removing all the wire loom and checking each wire. If u r only getting power to one side its likely that the split in the factory wire harness broke or corroded so badly it wont carry current.

 

so i pulled the harness off and tore it apart to find a break in the wire and nothing all is good so i put new loom on it and wrapped in electrical tape checked continuity all the way through and its good now not sure what was wrong before because when i checked continuity before i lost it half way through the harness. now its all good so far i even tried bending and twisting the wires while i tested it to see if there was a break and nothing still good so i dont know why it was acting up before. Also, i noticed my steel fuel return line coming from the IP is leaking at the fitting where the two sides of the injector return lines meet it any suggestions on fixing that one.

 

I'm glad the glow plug issued is resolved now. Bet she stars better now. As for the leaking return line if its the one I'm thinking about it the one on the back of the motor in which case there is a rubber oring in there that will dry out and crack. There was a write up on here yesterday i think about how to change it had pics too. Even had part numbers.

 

yea that's the exact one back by the controller ill have to see if i can find that write up on it and it definitely starts better now fires before it rolls over once now. do you know what the title of that thread was

It does not have part numbers I was wrong there but you will see exactly what u need and where they r all located. He has a great idea of how to fix the problem so it no longer becomes an issue

 

Ive Got An 85 250 With A 6.9. Ok Over Next To The Glow Plug Relay There Are A Red/Green ,Agreen/Red Wire,And A BigGer Orange/Black Wire All Tied Together With Naked Ends With A Wire Nut. It Fried The Red/Green Wire All The Way Back InTo The Cab.Does Anyone Know How This Came From Factory Originally And What The Wires Go To. Pics Would Help thanks
