2004 F350 Lariat Diesel Heated Tow Mirror Glass Replacement

Somebody decided they didn't like my 04 Ford Lariat diesel 350 4x4, and they chose to demonstrate same by smashing both left and right heated tow mirrors in a public parking lot. I guess it could have been worse, as there was no other damage, just the 2 large top heated, non-turn signal glasses. I believe I have good part numbers, 4c3z17k707FA/EA, that I can get fairly inexpensively from earnhardtford.com/partsonline. What I can't seem to find is the proper way to remove/replace the glass. I've seen somewhere here how to remove the newer 08's, which pop out but don't appear to be the same as the 04's. I've also seen the TSB 98-7-7 that addresses the older 98 model and also appears different from mine. Do mine 'pop out', or is there some other process? And are these the correct parts numbers? If anybody provide this info or direct me to a thread specifically addressing the 04 tow mirrors, it would be greatly appreciated, as I am getting headaches trying to view life through shattered glass.....

I would like an answer for this as well, I upgraded to aftermarket towing mirrors (pre 08 style) and the thing that I HATE is the the passenger side mirror is not one of the "objects are closer than they appear" mirrors, its just a regular mirror and it really throws me off.. I would like to replace it with a so called normal mirror, unless this is a feature that I did not know about on towing mirrors..

Question

Anybody? I hate to go into the glass replacement blind since the glass is so fragile, but I can't see paying the dealer the $120 estimated cost. Somebody please send me a clue, or point me in a direction where I might find some info............

I have a similar situation and am also looking to re[place the glass only. Since there has not been any response in almost two years, is it safe to assume that it can't be done or just that no one has done it?

I am in the process now of replacing my mirror glass and am worried about breaking something now. I will take pics of what it looks like.

I do know that it pops off, cause thats how they stole mine. I will take some pics tonight of everything and upload them, and hopefully that will help out some.

Sounds good. Keep us posted on how this goes for you. From the lik that you posted it looks possible to replace the glass only, doesn't it?
