4.5" PMF LIFT WITH AIR LIFT BAGS AND TRACTION BARS

Well finally got it done and am very pleased with the Precision Metal Fab 4.5" 3-link Lift in the front and the PMF 5.5" traction blocks and traction bars in the back, adjustable track bar and bilstein 5160's all the way around. Towed a good size load around about 34,000 GVW truck handled great. No odd noises or clunks, but i only have about 180 miles on the setup. Trevor was awesome guy to deal with at PMF, great customer service. All the parts where very Stout and looked well built. The welds all had good appearance and the parts fit well together. Air bags where a little tricky,I didn't want to do an inboard set up, i wanted to do the outboard bag setup so i had to custom fab the mounts to work with my gooseneck plate which has a lever action pop up ball on the drivers side. I went with the smart air automated system so i did have all the crap in the cab. Automatically adjusts the air pressure in the bags to level the truck. System uses a magnet connected to the spring to measure ride height. I wired it off the upfitter switch 2 so i could turn the system off if offroading so the the auto leveler did run all the time. Fabed a little panel with compressor, dump valve, manual stem and a pressure gauge. Took about 26 hrs to get everything done.

This is the style hitch i have PopUp 30K Retractable Ball Gooseneck Hitch PU-108
Makes it easy to raise and lower the hitch if you need it out of the way when putting stuff in the bed. I had to bend the latch lever to get clearance for the air lift bag on the driver's side so it would work right. It works fine now but I'm probably gonna extend the lever a little to get some more clearance from the bag mount.

Got a chance to throw a good load on her right around 35,000 GVW....truck handeled great. Air bags where right around 100 PSI, Chatter on take off has been eliminated which i am very impressed with. Ride control is simply great for lack of better words, before the truck seemed like it close to bottoming out now it rides almost as well as the unloaded ride very please........ Truck wasn't even touching the overload springs!!!

Wow! nice looking set up. I have read that these actually ride smoother if done proper. Does it track well down highway?

The setup is important but the instructions for the bags are very clear, it track's well very predictable over almost any terrain. Running about 10 psi empty take's a little of the hop out running empty.

Hey,
Could you take some pics of how the traction bars mount to the frame?
And did you have to drill/weld anywhere?
Thanks!

no welding, but you do have to drill 3-1/2" holes for each bracket that connects to the frame. Give trevor a call he has the base measurements to get you started on the rear eye-lets of the traction bar!

I used the AIR LIFT, i had to mod this kit to fit my pop up gooseneck which required cutting the brackets that sit on the spring u-bolts and widening them a little because on the PMF 3/4 u-bolt top plate and block lift i used. Air Lift Company LOADLIFTER 5000; LEAF SPRING LEVELING KIT - 4 Wheel Drive

and the leveler kit was
Air Lift Company SmartAir Automatic On Board Air System-Single Sensor - Air Lift

I bought all the parts on e-bay for about 520.00 total
