I'm in the process of fixing my rusted out bed corners. I had to drill out 62 spot welds to get it apart.

Cool to side the back end all apart like that. Great looking work. Certainly takes a lot of time!

 

2nd that on the tech article. I own 2 trucks that are half fridge and half slick both need this very repair.

 

 

Looks real good! When you reattach them, are you going to smooth the seam or show the joint like original. I ask because I went back and forth before making the decision to show a seam.
Keep the pic's coming and fill in the details please.

 

Personally I like the filled in seam look. I am thinking about filling the seem where that housing comes up against the bed side also. When I finally get to doing both of mine.

 

I think I'm going to show the seam. I've had them filled since I bought the truck in '01. It depends on how it looks when I get it back together.

 

Yea I like em both ways filled and unfilled. Kinda depends on the overall look you are going for. This time around Teddy (my truck) will be painted in a traditional two tone style and the seams on the cab will show along with the seams on the bed, except the one under the tail lights.

Damit three months late! How much they going for?
At least I can tell my self how much I saved by doing them my self, and all I learned.

 

He hasn't said how much they'll go for. I emailed the guy that's actually producing them and haven't heard back yet. Counting the filler and roll of flux-cored wire I had to buy, I've got about 35 bucks into materials to fix both sides.
