im new to the fourm but not to my truck i have a 1996 f-250 with a 351w. i also have 4:10 gears in my axles but it seems to not pull very hard. what could be the problem?
It doesn't pull hard compared to what? Compared to a modern modular Ford motor it probably won't seem like it pulls hard. But the 351 has pretty good torque from the factory, especially with 4.10 gears. But of course it's mostly an all around motor, not like the 460 which is an excellent puller.
The motor is smothered badly with small heads and intake, a restrictive exhaust and a needlessly conservative cam so no it won't pull that hard compared to a newer truck. Address all those issues and it'll run with the modulars no problem.

well i was comparing it to the 360 magnum that i got pulled by in 4low, headers are on my list after a my radiator hoses replaced, i was just baffeld and some times if i get on the throttle itll go in a bog but wont kick down. so i have no idea what is going on
i had 33's on it at the time i threw my other tires bach on it and i like it alot better, but i mean it just doesnt seem to get there like i though it used to when my grampa owned it
