Ever have one of those days?

We have all had much worse days but this just ticks me off. So you spend a considerable amount of time making an informed decision. Save your cash and purchase your items and line them up as best you can so they arrive "hopefully" same day or next day. Block off some "ME" time from the Fam and work and you are ready for some quality time on your baby.

I have been riding on the PO's crappy tires for 30K. Just had an inspection and the guy said "I'm gonna pass it but you need new tires". Just the excuse I needed. So I get a set of Michelin 285/75/R16 AT/2 from Costco. I also purchased a set of Excursion wheels for a nice price and great condition for $300. Costco will only mount them because they are not the spec size from the manufacturer . Ok, another hurdle but I"m game. Bring it on!

Far away shot of my current aftermarket wheels. I hate them. ( I was installing a WW2 here today as well )

Tires mounted and ready:

Only to find out my lug nuts from the aftermarket wheels don't look like they will work? The excursion wheels need a flat lug nut with what looks like a built in washer! Didn't see this coming. And of course the dealer wants $4ea x32 = $128 plus tax! Uh, that's a big negative Ghost Rider!

I'm gonna try Napa tomorrow at $2.25. I think this is what I need. Just trying to release some frustration here....

Yup. What ^^Mike^^ said!

Those nuts come in two different metric threads.

Take along one of your current nuts. You know it will fit your axle's wheel studs. When at the store, find a lug stud in their stock that will fit that nut, and then make sure ALL of them will thread on to that stud.

That will get you home with thirty-two that you know will work.

I have a set sitting in the garage I have no use for... Came off an 01 and I sold the tires. Too bad shipping would probably be more then what Napa will charge.

For dense stuff like that, I use the USPS "if it fits, it ships" boxes. Always ends up being cheaper than UPS/FedEx.

That was going to be my suggestion as well. Should be under $10 to ship all 32 lug nuts.

I had a similar day many years ago. Purchased a set of bigger wheels and tires that came with the lug nuts from a guy who had an '04 6.0 and was psyched to get them put on. Went to put them on and the lug pitch was different. Had to buy new ones. Can't remember how much the new one's were, but I think north of $100 and I had to wait days for them to come in.

I just THOUGHT that was a bad day. The last 7 months of owning this truck have taught me different.

Every time I open the hood I have one of those days. I've just come up with a catchy saying for it and roll with the punches (or kicks)

I wish I would have seen your offer sooner. Much appreciated and thanks for the input everyone. I went ahead and got the M14x2 yesterday from Napa for about $70 I just couldn't stand the ride any longer.

I do have a question. The M14x1.5 have the "ridges", I don't know the tech term, on the washer that match the wheel surface. The M14x2 that I need and purchased don't. I hope this isn't an issue?

Here is the M14x1.5 with the ridges on the flat surface of the washer.

Here is a shot with the AT/2's and wheels. It's a whole different riding truck!
