Can't believe I never found this thread till just now. I have plans to drop a IDI into a 78 Bronco. You seem to have found and fixed all the issues that I would run into. Great info.

Thanks, I wanted it to look as factory as I could the fuel lines are just painted to look like spark plug wires...Just take care not to get paint inside the lines....I really wish someone made chrome valve covers! Maybe one of these days I'll get some of it chromed.

Its funny cause people want to look at the truck...

"Whats it got 460?"...

I say no its got a 445

"Whats a 445?"

So I pop the hood nobody figures it out until I tell them its a diesel...

The only thing you need to find is a heavy duty F-350 78/79 radiator I already had one but now days is probably about 500.oo its slightly smaller then the diesel radiator in width to fit between the frame rails,One thing I'd do different is weld up the A/C hole because it wont fit back in so I had to screw a cover over it other then that it works great, Even though Oil Burners told me the engine wouldnt fit and it was a waste of time and money!

The only things not really covered is the wiring but its up to the owner how they want to go about that, I used the diesel glow plug section hooked to my switched key and the computer set apart from my original wiring harness stuff like the ALT is the exact same so its plug and play,So if I wanted to go back to my 78 dash I just pull the 91 out and plug back in the 78 and switch back to the 78 fuel tank (different OHM's) on the fuel gauge,But I like the way the 91 looks especially at night.
