cab lights

You can buy them in kit form pretty cheap(pack of 5). I suppose the hard part is pulling the headliner down and fishing a wire to connect them.
I think this is the model they use:

Remember measure TWICE, drill once. I would use a good silicone sealer to make sure they never leak into cab. They likely have some kind of gasket anyway?
I've had thoughts of adding them to my '89. Just haven't taken the leap yet.

It's not to hard of a job. I pulled my lights and harness out of a junk yard truck. I didnt use any silicone under the factory gasket and they have never leaked in 8 years.
I have put cab lights on prolly 5 OBS Fords and everyone of them had the factory plug for cab lights behind the passenger kick panel. Route the wires down the A-pillar no need to pull headliner just the trim piece over the windshield and A-pillar. These trucks have a double layer roof, I used a straightened out cloths hanger and fished the wires from the drivers side hole to the passenger side hole, then down the pillar.

Unless you're doing a concourse restoration it becomes a "do-your-own-thing". One's likes is not necessarily anothers likes. IMO the lights are fine. I have the Grote lights and will try and put them in the OEM locations, but that's just me. I know people are gonna hate on me when I put the flat bed on mine. Okay with me. Common fondness for our Ford trucks and acceptance of others tastes is what keeps us going. I was actually considering making the marker lights sequential like the old T-bird tail lights but Frederic mentioned the glare on the hood so I'm reconsidering that.

Marker lights do glow on the hood at night, but not sure that is a problem. I've liked the orange glow on the hoods of my trucks when I had them. Even my ol Mack hood glows at night with the marker lights on.
Sounds like you're making turn signals out of them? Sounds like a neat idea, and I don't think the blinking lights would be a hinderance while driving. Not like it's a constant thing or shining in your eyes.
Nothing wrong with flat beds. It's all in what you use the truck for.
