i am looking to find the factory specs covering info such as rear end ratio and such. my truck is a 5.0 litre f 150 with a "aod" transmission. for some unknown reason this trucks top speed is 85 mph. can anyone explain to me why it will only do 85 mph? and where i could go to find factory specs? thanks for your time

You can look at the metal tag hanging off of the rear end to find the ratio of the ring gear and pinion.

 

Interesting... my 92 302 E4OD Flareside buries the needle. At least in indicated 90MPH and it seemed to have more to go. Running 235R15s.

The tag on the door has axle codes. H9 is a 3.55 LS.

 

I have a 93 f150 5.0l (302) and have noticed that it will not go over 95 I think that it my have a electronic governor of some kind to prevent transmission problems. but I am not sure

 

I understand the compooter is programmed to limit top speed to around 85- 95 MPH. If you cruise the site long enough, you'll see the others saying this and that a new chip is the cure....

 

my 92 E150 (351, E4OD, 3,55 open diff), runs well over 125 mph.....
