I have a grill like that. You could tie it in with a switch, and hook em up to your floor high/low switch
I drank about 6 Virgin Screwdrivers, im heading to bed. Gnite

If you just add four more lights you won't need a grille insert.

As much as I'm not grooving to the 4 light idea, after actually seeing it without the grille, a hideaway headlight grille with the flip covers could be interesting..... phantom it out.

Get 2 sets of grill inserts, mold the far outer headlight ring to the inner light and the corresponding grill bars. I like the 1st pic 73 grill bar line look, versus the 2nd pic 76-77 grill inserts.

Cool idea all the same, dare to be different, I dig it.

It's been a long process but I finally finished the grille inserts to go with the quad headlights. The outer lights are normal high/low and the inside light will be hid to use as brights.

That is friggin' AWESOME. Good job! And thanks for following through.

Can you describe how the headlight rings were formed and how the bars and braces were assembled? TIG welded? Is that "walkway grate" as someone suggested earlier?

I'm gonna include this in the next update Tech Thread Compilation...

The rings were made from 2 x 1/8 x 25"ish aluminum flat bar that was cut on a bandsaw to ark from 1" to 2" and back to 1". It was then formed around a wooden die that was 5" dia. With springback this made 8" rounds that were 1" wide at the bottom and 2" at the top.

The rest of the grille was made from 1 x 1/8 flat bar. There are 3 vertical support bars that have 1/8" slots cut into it at 12 deg to match the slope angle that the rings create.

It was all welded with a spool gun hooked to my mig welder... This welds ok at best and a tig would be way better.

The leading edge of the grille insert was polished and the rest is flat black.

Hope this makes sense.

Yes that makes perfect sense.

Wanna make me one? Just kidding. I know how much work and azz scratching it takes. Congrats on your stick-to-itivemess and getting it done. For sure it's one of a kind.

i love it lol...i would love to convert this grain truck grill to my 77.but i think it would be a lot of work and fabrication.we have this same grain truck but green sitting in the Field.we just cleaned up the property and pulled it off a tree that attached its self to the bed lol. front tires still have air in them.motor still turns after 38 years...just cant beat the old days when a truck was a truck and not fine china...

Looks good! I had made a comment one time to HIO about using that headlight setup as a base to create a FAUX Mercury-100, adding luxury items like power leather seats, power windows, power everything else. Sort of like the difference between the Mustangs and the Cougars in the late 60's while they shared the same platform

You're going to have a lot of people doing double takes when they see this out on the road.

I like the way that looks!

I have seen a 76-77 with quad square headlights. I will try to get a pic of it when i am back that way.
