88 f250 oil pressure problem
hey guys, my 88 f250 351w has been having some issues, driving it the other day (and this has happened before) the oil pressure gauge went all the way down to low. and as i would let off the gas the gauge would go back to saying it was normal, and it continued to do this back and forth. oil level is fine and there is no major oil leaks anywhere. Got to make a long trip in a few weeks, any ideas on whats going on? Thanks.

Check the connection to your sender. If it isnt connected well then the pressure reading will come and go. If the motor has a lot of miles on it then it could be that the bearings and such are giving way causing the pressure to be low. If thats the case then a rebuild is in the future.
Installing a real gauge would be another way to see just what the pressure really is. You can do an install under the hood pretty easy. This will be good enough to tell you where you are.
