BTS trans?

Ive been doing some research and came across the BTS transmission. I have a rebuilt E4OD with a heavy duty torque converter and a shift kit that is starting to slip when a hammer on it and was debating on a 6 speed swap but now I have read that the BTS trans. is the way to go. opinions?

Hands down, money well spent, it'll be the last tranny you will drop into your truck... So yes, it's the way to go.

If you plan on keeping your truck or working it then a BTS is the way to go Period!
I haul heavy on a pretty normal basis so it was my only option. It's peace of mind and well worth every penny. Plus you get a lifetime warrenty.
Your best bet is to drive to Lead Hill while your trans is still operating and watch Brian build your new trans right in front of you. He will explain everything that goes into his builds and how and why his parts are designed the way they are. Having one sent to you just doesn't do it the justice.
I've got 13,000 miles on my BTS and absolutly love it.
Trust me when I say that $4500 and a lifetime warrenty is money well spent.

Oh, and you have a 4R100 in your 99, the E4OD was in the obs 97 and older trucks.

BTS, no question. Unless you are really close to John Wood in California, then go to him. Either way, you'll cry when you spend the money, and they will turn to tears of joy when you drive it.

Oh Boy here we go East coast guys and West coast guys!! LOL
Well I have never heard anything bad about either JW or BTS. They both will show you what they do to build a bullet proof 4R100. I myself only hope to have a BTS someday. And I myself live in the arm pit of the nation Gary, Indiana and I want to see my tranny build and BTS is closer.
But if I am on the west coast when it starts to go JW here I come .

I went with BTS. I would have loved to drive up there and see it done, but after driving 80 miles in 2nd gear I figured I better have one shipped. Houston to Arkansas in 2nd didn't sound fun.

I talked with Brian over the phone quite a bit before I installed the trans. He was absolutely great. Real good guy to work with...would have loved to meet him in person. If you have any questions don't hesitate to call him.

i like the idea of having a bulletproof transmission. i like the idea of the lifetime warranty. i understand the price that comes along with it. the problem is, i don't tow anything and i rarely load the truck down. do you guys think i'm better off just rebuilding my 4R100 with some upgraded components? torque converter, valve body, cooler...
my truck has 320K on stock tranny. my daily driver.

I have priced many local rebuilders near me, and there prices are only 1k cheaper than BTS, and not much of a warranty. Unless you get a good deal on a local rebuild, you don't save much. Plus I have heard lots of bad stories about your average trans shop rebuild for this trans. To me the $1k is well worth the warranty from BTS. Another good option is a HD4R100 from Ford. It's aprox $3k plus install. I'm hoping for the BTS when it's time for my Trans, but if its not possable then it's the HD4R100 for me.

thanks CrewCab. as i slowly think this decision through its nice to have like minded folks push me in that direction. all the shops out there say they can do it, but as you mentioned not much of a warranty comes with it. i could always drop it and attempt the rebuild myself but i just don't have the tools or the best means to accomplish the work. the HD4R100 sounds good but again, the dealership *shudders*... going there gives me the shudders. i'm not sure what Brian has to offer in the way of shipping one out to CA. i'd rather drive out there and have it all done right there in his shop.
thanks for your input!
