When i made mine i went to lowes hardware and bout

3"x2' pipe section
3" clean-out w/plug
3" cap
two 5/8in barb to 3/4in pipe thread fitting
two 1in to 5/8in barbed hose adapters
5/8in hose(as much as you need to run from engine to catch can)
1in hose(about 5-6inchs)
PVC sealant
some sort of drain valve

Now to make the catch can, drill and install your drain valve in the 3in cap, cut about a 5-8in section of your 3in pipe off and us the sealant to glue the cap to the pipe peace, then take your 3" clean-out w/plug and use the sealant to glue that on the other end of the pipe peace, now you have a catch can. Now drill and tap your tw0 5/8in barb to 3/4in pipe thread fittings into the side of your catch can.

You can remove your degas bottle or move it out of the way for this installation, first take out your air filter and the intake tubing with the mass airflow sensor, you can see the CCV coming out of the valve cover and going into the intake tubing connected to the turbo. Then remove the intake tubing and disconnect the CCV from the valve cover. You wand to cut the CCV tubing so you have enough for the intake side and then put your 1in tubing that you bought on the valve cover side, and then put in your barb fittings and attach the 5/8in hose to them. Run the 5/8in hose to where ever your guna mount you catch can. I mounted mine on the outside of the frame where the fuel pump is. Connect the 5/8in hose from the valve cover to the lower fitting on your catch can and the 5/8in hose from your intake to the upper fitting on your catch can.

This was a quick write up but if theres anything i didn't explain wright feel free to correct me.

I have been having the same problem for about a month, I’ve had the truck for about 3 years and have never had this issue until now. Except my issue is with the cac at intercooler is pretty moist. I have been searching the forum and can’t find any other answers. I’m hoping reviving this old thread will help. I do see quarter size drops under the front of the truck. No oil in The Valley. I did find a similar thread in the 7.3 section but thought I should post here.

If all your oil dampness is around the CAC plastic tube then the only logical thing is to get out an 11mm deep socket to remove it and check for cracks or looseness of the clamp. If cracked you need to replace it with original or like I did 5 years ago, get the 2004 Motorcraft assembly that comes with the metal pipe and new boots as seen below. Part number is in my pic and usually goes for about $130.

I thought so too, but it seems to start right at the CAC tube and does not smell like coolant. Definitely feels like oil. I’m thinking I can drive it and try and watch to see if I can see the leak coming from the Rad when stopped... But again seems like a lot of oil, quarter size drop after I let it sit for a while.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will take a look after work. The tube felt tight when I was looking for the leak.

The plastic tubes can crack on the ribbed portion and sometimes a hole can chafe through if something was rubbing on it.

Well it was the radiator, new one in and no leaks. Glad I changed right before I left for camping. Thanks for all your suggestions.

I may start a new thread, my degas leaks coolant when I tow my toy hauler, especially up steep hills. I put a new degas and cap when I did the radiator thinking that would fix it. Same thing happened las year when I went camping. Not sure if that’s normal or not?

Just replaced my cold side CAC. It was leaking at the ridges, two small pin holes. I wasn't able to get boost above 20.

Lol a 6.0 wastegate, good finds! Just make sure you tighten those clamps back up tight when you button her up, when they blow off under high boost cause you left it a tad loose you will think the motor just blew up and the lack of power is incredible, especially if you are towing you will have to pull off the road because it wont get out of its own way and egts skyrocket, then you have to wait to touch anything cause it is a million degrees , dont ask me how i know.

Well, bad news. Came out today and sure enough it’s dripping again. Don’t think it’s from the brand new radiator... I’ll add some pics, the truck has been giving some problems as of late. My degas puked a ton of coolant while driving to and from camping... Looks like oil to me where it’s dripping.

Truck is getting the heads done and the mechanic said the cac is leaking/cracked. He said it was aftermarket, orderd a 2004 style as suggested. That was the cause of my leak... excited to get my rig back.
