Sunroof

We just had a sunroof installed. We are real pleased with the outcome and thought I would share some pictures and answer questions. First off - thanks to gmcbride - he even brought his Ex down to the shop to show the installer the sunroof in his Ex.
We were able to maintain all the overhead console equipment. For the front overhead console we used the overhead console from a Expedition with sunroof. I was able to remount the Ex trip computer into this housing. Modifying it for the map light switches was not simple but was possible. The housing has front map lights, trip computer, rear side windows and the sunroof switch. On the ceiling behind the sunroof we used a aftermarket product (discountinued but found in a local warehouse) to house the Ex's old dome light and the rear a/c controls. The upper front a/c controls were relocated to the lower center section of the dash using the Ex's old rear a/c housing. The upper 2nd row air duct was shortened and the vents were relocated to the center. It turned out looking very factory. Classic soft trim in Tukwila WA did a great job. Here are the pictures.

That is awesome! Nothing would make my wife happier than to have a sunroof on a truck she already loves. What's a ballpark $$$ I would expect?

WOW, that looks amazing. Love the front console from the Expedition, looks very factory. Have you had it in a big rainstorm yet to make sure it doesn't leak?

It won't match your tan interior - thanks again for bringing your Ex down.

He did it for $1250. I think it was a little more work than he expected.

Joe the shop lead did the install. He does good work. He did mention having a custom chopper. Great guy to work with.

Thanks. So far so good - no leaks. It rains here a lot. No real hard pounding rain yet though.
