Hey Larry

If you have the owners manual which I doubt with a truck that old it would tell you. Otherwise just search it on google. I would assume 87 since that is usually the normal. Far as oil I would get some kind of highmilage kind that is suppose to help clean up the engine some since it is a 93. I leave the tune up and spark plugs to others, i know there are some specific spark plugs you will want but i dont remember which they are .

Hi Larry. I have a 94 with the 5.8 nd I run 87 octane. I have the owners manual (strangely enough) nd that's what it calls for. High mileage oil is a good idea, just ensure u use high quality stuff. I use Castrol GTX. Lots of us here on FTE use copper plugs, some use platinum and very few use iridium. Whatever u do use a high quality rotor, distributor cap and the best wires u can afford. Keep #7 nd 8 as far from each other as u can so they don't fire by induction. Change oil when u want but certainly no longer than 10,000 kms. Use quality filters, avoid Fram. That's about it. Good luck.

Hey Larry, if you get a chance to go thru these threads look for an post on a "sixliter tune up". It works well on a 5.8... as for the better filters NAPA/WIX, CARQUEST and MOTORCRAFT ... NAPA sells one # 1773 for the 5.8, it holds an extra 1/2 qt of oil ... Carquest has it too under another number. Just my $.02 worth, I ALWAYS start my oil refill with a qt of Lucas !!! ... Dave
