Power steering pulley

Searched but couldn't find the answer. I replaced my power steering pump and the pulley now has a shake to it. Did I wreck the pulley by not using the correct puller? It didn't look like there was any damage to it. Was very careful when I removed it. This shimmy has me stumped.

Belt is 3 months old, tensioner seems to be in fine working order/good preassure.

I used a run of the mill pulley puller. Then noticed the puller your supposed to use is diffrent. I'm getting burnt out working on this thing.

You probably warped the pulley. You will get burned out working on any vehicle if you don't use the proper procedures and/or tools.

Yep I sure did warp it. Pulled the belt and gave it a spin....crooked as a dogs hind leg. Live and learn, won't make that mistake again.

As for tools, i couldn't agree more.

Doing things twice really gets to me also. Hang in there - it is all a learning experience anyway. Glad you found the issue.

Good call on the warped pulley Mike (69cj).

Auto Zone will lend you the proper puller free. Just put down a refundable security deposit.

I wish we had a Auto zone around. I can't get any place around here to rent tools. The local dealership pretty much laughed at me when I asked. Said thats why they have a service department
