Amsoil oil filter ok?

I hear much regarding the use of aftermarket filters and just stick with FOrd/motorcraft. I got the filter with the purchase of my amsoil, you think its safe to use?

Compare the cost of a filter vrs. the cost of injectors or engine. I wouldn't but that's your call.

Well thats what I was looking for advice on, Im well aware of the costs of what you mentioned but as stated I got it free. I know it filters a little better and was curious if a quality product like amsoil could still pose a threat.

Thanks!

What I'd want to know before I even though about putting an Amsoil filter in the oil filter housing...is it the same dimensions and what is it's micron rating? If it's more porous or shorter...no need to go further.

This video explains how it's the dimensions of the filter itself amongst other things that are critical to the complete operation of the filter system, because it is designed to sit tight to the lid and also to properly operate the oil drain valve and bypass valve.

There is a patent on this filter. It is built by Racor and then put in either Fram boxes (# CH9549) or Motorcraft boxes (# FL-2016) or the plain white Racor box sold by International (# PFL-2016).

A great place to get the filters - Home - Diesel Filters,Additives, brake rotors, and brake pads for Chevy, Dodge and Ford Diesel Trucks

If the filter you got has the patent numbers on the bottom and everything checks out as shown on the video then you may be okay. Your choice but hopefully more info here to help you make a decision you are comfortable with.

I remember when I ran amsoil, their filter appears to be the same dimensions. But the amsoil feels like a better built unit. I have held each of these side by side, and if the amsoil filter was more accessable, I would be using them instead of the motorcraft. Just my .02
