bad fuel pump?

i filled up my tank today,and my fuel guage took 2 miles to go form 1.4 tank to 1/2 tank. is this s fuel sending unit or......

Sounds like it could be the sending unit. I would get a Ford shop manual and do the diagnostics before I spent the $ on a fuel pump, though. Why replace something that expensive and hope that's the problem when you can do the diagnostics and know exactly what you need. It could be gauge or wiring or connectors giving you the problem.

was the key off all the way ??
if you fuel these things while running or ignition is on the fuel gauge will not rest properly it takes sometimes a day or so to get back to normal.
mine did the 2 times it happend to me till I figured out what happend.now I pull the key when fueling up no more problems.

actualy i had the key on listing to the radio, didnt realize this would cause issues with the gauge

It's weird that it does that but it does must be the rest in the PCU.
Is your gauge ok now???

It is fine now. Guess i have to make sure key is out when fueling

Or you can just wait for the gauge and PCM to catch up.
