Looking to replace cam and timing set. I have a Rv cam. Are all timing sets equal? Might as well do waterpump too; what else?
130k no smoke fair power and mileage.

I used a Cloyes 9-1122 which is a true straight-up set. After '72 BBF had 8 deg. retard at straight up to meet emission standards. That set also has three keyways to advance, retard or straight up(0 degrees) install.

The 9-1122 street true roller timing set is popular, inexpensive and long lasting.
I've had one in my truck ever since I had to change out the retarded nylon toothed hy-vo factory set that came in my truck @ 60k miles.

Do install it straight up (dot on tooth directly above keyway)
Your truck will thank you!

An even cheaper option is a direct replacement single roller set for the '88 and on FI engines.
(They didn't have any retard built in)
