2002 Explorer 4.6L - dreaded P0340 code

im having the same problem also wondering if a clogged cat would cause back up to causing everything to compensate for the vct and cam sensor codes?? i had both replaced already it all started with a misfire in cylinder 6 but ran it with the misfire for a while then truck just went hay wire n would barely run and got a bunch of codes replaced all the coils n plugs cam sensor vct both sides cam sensors on both sides n that was all from ford n still have a problem with the p0340 code coming back only if i drive the vehicle for like 3 miles.... n then runs rough barely runs.. shut it off for a day start it up n runs fine for like 3 miles.... so if u figure out whats wrong let me know ill try it also... 4.6 mountaineer

still haven't done or tried to do anything else to my truck, just been swamped.
for some reason, i may have some suspicion in the alternator again. I put a new re manufactured one in, but you never know. I was reading up on the 4.6L SOHC mustangs, and 95% of the time, its an alternator problem and lots of people have had their new re manufactured ones mess up right away.
Also, while reading the code scanner, when the revs are above 2000rpm, the code is no longer present.
I'm planning to take it to the dealer and have them have a go at it. I hope they'll be able to figure it out and it wont be ridiculous.

well I guess I can say my truck is finally fixed thanks to the dealer.
It spent over a month there, and it sure made them scratch their heads.
The local dealer was puzzled, and checked everything externally and electrically on my explorer. Apparently they were going back and forth with Ford Engineering and being told what to do by them.
The end result: According to the dealer, The timing was off by one tooth, and the tensioners that was put in my engine were not the correct one.
I have the truck back, it seems to run good, if not the same but no more CEL. Cost me some pretty pennies. Hoping to take it for emission testing tomorrow

HELP i have a 2002 ford explorer just recently replaced transmission and fuel pump in march. first gas window wasnt matching gas hand then about a month later my truck stopped on me. a blue mini 15 fuse is being blown eveytime i try to start the truck. all lights and radio still work fine. had two diagnostics done one at a shop and the other at the dealership no answers now the dealership want to test my PCM. im already out of alot of money with towing and diagnostic fees! What should I do. they saying if i have to replace my pcm for everything it will cost 1500$
