So, would using the original washers that were on the engine work with the studs and nuts? I still have the exhaust manifold 'log' I took off, as well as all the bolts. I assumed this was a stronger, safer bet. Does your set up work as you described by shaving some of the washer down or is it an on going issue?

Use new studs with old washers shaved down, IF you are using a 4v intake with the Hedman headers. If the flanges are the same thickness, then any system will work.

I've been using the oem washers, shaved down, on my system for almost three years.

No need to grind the washers if your using the efi manifolds. BTW, I ordered my studs and crimp nuts from truckmeblue.com. But, any do it center will have them.

I haven't had an issue with the Offy and EFI manifolds. They seem to be the same thickness.

The dorman studs i have found say they are grade 8.

Dorman Products - 675-101.1

Someone else please verify this size for me, please?

You need 14 of each of these: AV09686 3/8-1 SAE 3/8-5/8 USS X 2 overall *(I like to use the 2 1/8" studs if they have them.

Do these studs work on an EFI engine? I'm getting everything together to install my reman'd head on my 92, would be awesome if I could use these instead of dinking around with the bolts. Thanks in advance.

Anything? I do know there are some differences between EFI n carb heads/engines, just making sure it can be used.

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work. The bolt pattern and heads are externally nearly identical.

Will these Studs from Autozone work? I am pretty sure the thread size is 3/8-16 on the old bolts. All my bookmarks and such have been deleted and so I was wanting to make sure if these would work. The price is good and my Local Autozone is minutes away.

The info say they are grade 8, resistant to rust while being 2 inches long.

I went to clean the head bolt holes (mid 80's car? motor) to prep for studs but my 3/8-16 tap did not feel right going in 2 of the holes so I stopped.

I tried to check the old bolts with a thread pitch and it does not look to be 3/8-16 so thinking metric?

I don't have a metric tap & die set to check with that has any one else run into this?

Also anyone know if the studs on the manifolds for the pipe flange is metric as my 7/16-20 die did not fit to clean them up also.
