I was wondering what models you could find them on.

Like 87-93 5.0 Mustangs
What year model Taurus? Certain engines?
Thunderbirds?
Town cars?

Thanks I have how to hook it up now I just need to find one.
Also I kinda know how to ID one but any help is appreciated?

Well I was thinking $15 for the alternator and maybe $30 for the rebuild kit if needed. Instead of $120 or $150. I am poor or cheap. I haven't figured it out yet.

But that is a Great website for those accessories and more.
Thanks kemi

I did a swap with the early 90's IDI alternator and I believe it is a 105 amp IIRC and bolts right up to our mounts...

did you buy it or take it off of something,Edge?
I need to have a 3G but with running a wench, rock lights, 2 KCs and all the other stuff it cant hurt.
Might look into the 105 or even a 2G.

The IDI is a 3G. My truck is a 95good so it was already wired as a 3G.

I ordered an alt for a 94 F350 diesel. Bolts and wired right up. Plus it was pretty cheap (~$75 IIRC)

capt, if you plan to run that stuff you will want nothing less then a 3g 130amp. the 160amp would be the correct setup givin your accessories.

Kemi, thanks I think I will defiantly do the 3G before I put the wench on. I think I can find one that will work. I keep reading that the 8.25" is the best for v-belts but I am going to measure my ALT. I have found a few 95amp 3Gs. I have not looked very much for that. I have been concentrating on a Saginaw pump swap. That is a whole different story.

oh well I have the wiring diagram so I think I need to get the bigger wires and the other stuff....AFTER I ger the alternator.
should be fun.

oldmongo, I will do that thanks. Just have to find a pulley. Any suggestions?

Also, wondering if you all think the 46" long 4/0 AWG cable will work. I think so. I think most forums I have read about the swap says that people have used 2/0 AWG.

The pictures are on my profile I can't figure out how to put them on a post. Dang Mac.
Check them out!!!!! My Dad had them lying around his shop. He said take them.

Arrow Capt !!!

The only place I know of is http://www.rjminjectiontech.com/ I know you have heard of them !!! I couldn't read the markings on the 4.0 wires, but if they are not automotive or welding leads I would not use them. I only used a little over 24" on mine ... remember you want flexable wiring with lots of strands inside ... Dave

the 80's/90's taurus with the 3.0 had the small case 130 amp alternator, which I believe is what you want...that's what I used in my 66 mustang...the 3.8 taurus have the 130 amp too, but it's a bigger case.

paperformance.com has the fused 4gauge cables needed for this.
