95 F-150 with factory cd player

I have a factory CD player in my '95 F-150, Would that be considered premium sound as far as buying a wire harness adapter?

I'm assuming you are going to install an aftermarket head unit?

If so, just use this wire harness:

Receiver Wire Harness For select 1986-04 vehicles at Crutchfield.com

I got this when I swapped out my factory head unit for an aftermarket.

Yes that would be considered premium sound. I too suggest picking up everything and the adapters from Crutchfield.

Yes I am Minn, And since its a premium sound unit, I will have to get the premium sound adapter harness.

And the factory unit works fine, but its a pain to use, espacially when you can't reach it without leaning forward, and I have long arms lol. I have an Alpine coming with remote and USB port...

thanks for the info...

I agree, I quickly got sick of mine when I first bought my truck. The USB port is nice for using an iPod. That's the main reason I upgraded mine. My Pioneer CD player has the remote also, sure makes it easier to adjust sound/change songs, etc. while driving.

Crutchfield is an awesome company. I enjoy doing business with them. Free shipping is nice too.

To change the bulb you remove the long trim piece on your dash by jently prying it off with a flat head. It will pop off pretty easy. There will be 2 torx bolts holding the trim on around the controls and the bottom just pop in place. Then if memory serves my right there are 4 torx screws holding the controls to the dash. The bulbs plug into that. You might have to remove the ***** and connections to the panel to get the bulbs out. That easy. All of the torx screws are hex headed for sockets as well I believe. I can take a picture of my stereo wiring when I get home if you want. It's not premium sound...

If the OEM CD player works fine, any interest in shipping it my way for reasonable coin?

After pulling the factory amp, I used a Metra 70-5605 amp bypass harness and it works fine. Not an easy job but well worth it!

Here is a shot of the old wiring and new wire harness:
