Yard sales pays off.. Some 48, F1 parts Ive picked up

Guys, I went to a yard sale over the weekend. Look what I picked up.. I walked n the guys barn and as I was walking out I seen it on the barn wall I asked and get this grill and upper n lower panle for $15, If you all seen my Grill you all know I was in need of a better of.. But the old guy had no other F1 parts..

Then today a buddy of mine son, He dad runs a junk yard hade a guy drop of a F3, But I will not talk about how beat up it was, there was no saving it... Guy beat the hell out of the truck.. I did come away from the junk yard with a hood, which was way better shape then mine, ash try(which was missing in my truck when I got it.. and marker covers in glass.. Got all three for under $10

That's great Cody. Especially the hood and the grill. I'd also like to hear about the radiator that age62newbie obtained for you in that very good deal. He deserves a pat on the back considering he kept that deal alive for you even when he couldn't get in touch with you. You have contacted him and picked up your radiator.......right?

Good deal! You won't beat that deal on the radiator. Get that water pump, some good tires, and a complete brake job, and you'll be close to steppin in high cotton. Congrats on the new job too!!!

Hey Cody,
Nobody makes those hoods new so that's like finding gold!
I like that Grill too - a little TLC & you are looking good.

Has someone replaced the ashtray **** with a beer bottle opener?! I don't know why rat-rodders would want ashtrays?

Cody,

Ash trays aren't all that hard to find for the '48-50s. They're usually one of the protected items in a truck, away from the floor where the majority of the rust occurs. I suppose if you had a leaky windshield rubber you could have water run down the dash and cause rust to form. Most likely the most damage happens from abuse, maybe even fires from stuffing lit butts in with crumbled paper.

The one hard ash tray part that is rather hard to find in decent shape might be the pot metal trim from a '51-52 ash tray. This is the main reason I've stayed away from the later models. Oh yeah, also that awful looking grill.

A good '48-50 aren't the easies to find. Most of the ones I've come across are missing the cigar tab. The one I have now has a home made front cover for it. The other problem is no income.
