EB Oil Filter Replacement?

None of my local oil change shops have the EB oil filter in stock because they all say Ford has not released them outside of Ford dealerships yet. Surely there is a suitable replacement out there somewhere, right? Have any of you been able to convince these 10 min oil change places to use something else?

I would take my truck to the Ford dealership but it took them over an hour last time...no thanks!

Walmart sells the filter. Just hand it to the lube tech at your local oil change place and see if they will do it that way.

Our WM does not have them (I wish they would), but I ordered 5 or so at Tasca parts to make it worth the shipping cost. Still much cheaper than the local dealer.
Tim, how much are they at your Walmart?

Our 2001 & 2005 V10 Excursions, 2005 V6 Mustang, 2007 Mustang GT, 2000 & 2007 V6 Explorers, and my 5.4L 2010 SCAB all use(d) the same oil filter ... Purolator #PL24651. Are y'all saying the Ecoboost uses a different filter?

They're about $4.00-$4.50 each. The price of a typical MC filter sold at wallyworld.

Rock Auto has multiple options listed. The filter doesn't appear unique to the Ecoboost. It looks like the same filter fits a lot other Fords, as well as GM and Dodge/Ram products.

What brand of filter is a "FL-500S"? Is there a TSB saying it is an acceptable replacement?

FL is a designation for motorcraft filters.

The original filter on the vehicle from the factory is a FL 500S. Ford, came out with a one page insert for the owners manual stating to use the bigger FL 2055, but since recinded the change. You should have received something in the mail about it. I do not have the TSB about the change...sorry!

It always was a strong Ford truck area, due in part to the now defunct Norfolk Assembly plant, it was in operation from 1925 to 2007.

I bought a package of 6 FL-500S filters on eBay for about $25 or so, IIRC. They are not hard to find.
