SCT by 5 Star Tuning for the 6.2?

Thinking about buying an SCT tuner programmed by 5 Star Tuning for my 2011 F250 with the 6.2. I have an Edge Evo CS and while Edge finally got it working with my 6.2, I have been less than impressed so far. Saw great results with my 08 F150, but not much of a noticeable difference with the 6.2. Before I ask this, I know fuel mileage isn't the primary reason anyone should spend money on a tuner, but this truck is my everyday driver, so if I could squeeze a few more miles out of a tank, that would be great. Anyone out there have the 87 octane economy tune, and if so have you seen any noticeable difference in mpg when using it? I do also use the truck to pull a 20 ft. pontoon boat and trailer, which doesn't weigh all that much, but I was just wondering how much of a difference people are seeing with the towing tune by 5 Star.

What kind of mpg are you getting with your Edge Evo CS in the 87 oct tune?

Just curious...

It's too soon to tell, really. The CS wouldn't work with my truck at all to begin with. Edge just released an update Thursday that fixed the problem I was having. But for the couple of days I've driven it, it seems to be averaging around 12.5 combination town and highway. I've been getting around 13 running straight stock programming, so I'm not really seeing any improvement at all in mpg. I have used the level 2 towing tune and really don't seem to see any noticeable difference in HP either. The Evo really woke up my 08 F150 and I got about 1 to 1.5 mpg better mileage. I don't expect to see a huge difference in mileage with any tuner, and being a big, heavy truck, I know it isn't going to be a gas sipper. I've read a lot of good things about Mike at 5 Star Tuning and thought I might let him take a crack at it. I just discovered the other day that I actually live in the same county he does, so I can just drive my truck right over and have him tune it.

I mainly use the Economy tune and I get 12.5-13 while driving in the city. I drive 9 miles each way to and from work and will hit about 9 lights during each way. While using the tow tune in the city I will barley get 11. On the highway I can upwards near 17. Have been driving 95% highway the last few day and I am avg. 15.1 mpg for about 200 miles using the economy tune. I do have the 3.73 rear end though, not sure what you have. I can't tell you how much improvement over stock since I have been using the tuner for the last year. The truck just feels better then stock.

Thanks. That's helpful information. From what I've read, I think around 13and is average around town economy on these trucks. I was really just curious about the fuel mileage with the tuner. I figured it would be a nice plus if it allowed me to squeeze out a few extra miles. Hoping it will help with acceleration from a dead stop. Mine seems a little slow on take off. A little eager to get into 6th gear also, at low speed. I also have the 3.73 gear by the way.

The tuner will help on take off and with the early shift into 6th. With the economy tune it gets into 6th around 40 mph, but not hesitate to downshift when more power is needed either.
