Does anyone know of a good transmission shop. Possibly need to overhual the good ole Torqshift 5R110. When i put her in reverse often it will kill the truck. feels like gears are locked up and when it releases it is surges and runs fine? any ideas or any recommendations on repair shops. any help would be greatly appreciated

 

sounds like u wan it rebuilt.

my suggestion is to try to drain and refill the rear differential pumpkin, take off the cover, and check the gears. if they're bad, we can always change them. i'd give u a hand if u need it.

on the bright side, if we're gonna go wif my suggestion and do the work ourselves, i only do it according to ford specs and recommendations.

have u also checked ur tranny fluid yet?

if urs is the 5r110 like mine, we dont use the mercon SP for the tranny fluid anymore. it has been upgraded to the mercon LV which the 6.4 and 6.7 uses. the mercon LV is still compatible with our trannys but we wont find mercon SP anymore. it's been phased out. now beam me up scotty.

 

At the stealership right now to get the codes pulled. Hopefully nothing major. Will update you later.

 

i wouldnt call tat stealership. some folks get a little jumpy over tat term cos they work for dealerships. now it's the sales manager or service manager tat do people wrong maybe, but not all folks are bad.

btw, if ur going for service, try McRee ford in alvin. mention tat ur from the ford truck enthusiasts' forum and they'll take good care of u.

 

I know I shouldn't call it that just frustrated right now on top of the injectors I am going to replace there might be something else. Hopefully they come back and tell me no codes your good to go.

 

and the results are in. Transmission needs to be rebuilt. looking into getting a reman from local dealer. happens to be my good friend, so another 2800 down the drain and we will be ready to rock and roll. 3 year unlimited mile warranty to boot so I will pick her up on Monday and begin the dreaded task.

and the deed is DONE! she now moves along the road once more. Injectors going in and egr going out this weekend. followed by an sct tuner from Gearhead and custom tunes by Matt, who i recently found out I knew him from college. It is a small world

I read that right after I found out that I knew Matt from gear head personally.

 

first off after the new injectors and the egr delete the truck runs AMAZING!!!! or so i thought, after i got her tuned up all i can say is HOLY MOLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! may have to untune her to keep the tires on. night and day difference! sorry just finished everything up and still a little wired after the initial test drive
