my (new) 1989 F-150

When I did my body lift, the kit came with a steering shaft extension spacer, relocation brackets for the front bumper, rear bumper I had to drill new holes on the frame to raise that up 3", didn't have any wiring issues other than needed longer battery cables, trim fan shroud to clear the fan clutch, and transfer case lever needs a 3 inch extension welded onto it. Mine is an auto tranny so I had no issues with that. Sounds like a lot but I did it all in a weekend by myself.
I understand you have serious undercarriage rust issues though so a body lift would probably not be the best option, financially though, it would be. My kit cost just a little over $100.
It'll cost a lot for an alignment if you put a leveling kit in the front, cuz the alignment shop will have to install new camber bushings that can correct the camber angles. Unless you install these yourself, expect to pay 200-300 for an alignment.

the camber bushings are the things the spindles pivot on, right?

The upper ball joint goes through the camber bushing on either side, and these are located on the steering knuckles. You have to tear down the front end a little bit to replace these.
Notice my aftermarket adjustable camber bushings just below the upper ball joint nut in this picture from my 4x4 conversion:
Here's what the aftermarket bushings look like out of the steering knuckles:

thanks for those pictures! my whole front axle is rusted real good so removing that nut would be a challenge.
my coil springs are seriously rusted as well as the front shocks. forget removing the bolts, theyll need to be cut. i heard people putting f250 coils in and that lifts it 3 inches? if thats true then i might as well do that to get new coils.
